Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is both the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official of the United America. A member of Democratic Party, she has previously served as the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and was an United States senator representing California until 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for healthcare reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a path for undocumented immigrants to become citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She is well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
